You’ve got to give it to the coral—or is it pink—Muse OBX Bus252…when Ami Hill pulls up at a site and sets up, she and the artists who are a part of the traveling show is impossible to miss.
Bus252 has been at the Dune Shops in Kitty Hawk for the past two Sundays, and according to Ami, they’ll be back on Sundays for the rest of the month. August is still a bit up in the air, but maybe.
The coral bus is Muse OBX Bus252, and inside it there is art of every description from Outer Banks artists. But the concept that Hill has put together is much more than just her bus, as cool as it is. What she has done is redefine just what a traveling art show can be.
Working with other vendors, when she sets up, there is always an additional 10 or 12 tents with the bus, creating sort of a mini art bazaar.
A number of restaurants on the Outer Bank have worked with her because when she shows up with everyone who comes with her, customers follow. And for a restaurant, that’s like free advertising to bring people to their door.
That certainly has seemed to be the case at the Dune Shops. The small restaurants and coffee shop that are part of the plaza have been packed on the Sundays when Bus252 has been there.
It’s definitely a moving show so it’s not always clear just where the bus will be. Unfortunately through the summer, not in Kill Devil Hills; there are some issues that have to be worked out with the town, but other than that, look for Bus252 and the traveling art show almost anywhere on the Outer Banks.
