It would be hard to imagine a better day for the first annual Pik’n and Whole Hog Throw down at Sanctuary Vineyards today. Weather was perfect, some very nice wine, Lost Colony Beer, great smoked whole hog pit bbq (pulled pork, of course) and Trae Pierce and the T-Stones rocking the place with some great music.

Sanctuary Vineyards has a reputation for putting on some great special events. CrabDaddy is coming up in just two weeks—all you can eat crab, followed by the Great Curri-Shuck the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

There are some common features to all fo the Sanctuary Vineyards events. The food is always fantastic. The Great Curri-Shuck is probably our favorite with all you can eat oysters and crab…and bbq…although, come to think of it, CrabDadd is kind of fun as well. The point is, the food is great.

And of course there’s wine and beer—the wine Sanctuary Vineyards product, and some of it is very good. The beer is always local microbrews.

And then there’s the music. It’s invariably fantastic. Trae Pierce and the T-Stones have made it a point to be at the Sanctuary Vineyards fall events and their amazing blend of blues, funk and rock is great stuff.

Finally, we can’t forget to mention how family friendly all of Sanctuary Vineyards events are. Located on the grounds of what will soon be once again the Cotton Gin, after it rises from the ashes of its disastrous 2019 fire, the land surrounding the winery is a family owned farm, and it is a place where kids are free to roam, with an occasional hayride thrown in.

The events at Sanctuary Vineyards up there in Jarvisburg a  little north of the Wright Memorial Bridge are worth checking out and a great part of the Outer Banks experience.

Any time is a great time to visit the Outer Banks, but fall is especially marvelous. See for yourself while staying in a Brindley Beach Vacations home.
