The turkey, the ham, the sweet potatoes, the collards (of course—it’s North Carolina) and the deserts…pies, quick breads and everything else. When all is said and done, there is something so wonderful about Thanksgiving that for many it is their favorite holiday. And no wonder; the requirements are simple—eat a lot and hang out with people we care about.

Thanksgiving on the Outer Banks is pretty much like Thanksgiving everywhere in our country. Food, family conversation, some football on TV. Not a bad way to spend a day.

The weather was beautiful today. A late autumn day where the temperatures stayed in the 60s and the sun was out. Maybe that was something to be thankful for, although the weather is so changeable around here that we need to be careful with that.

Still, there’s a lot to be thankful for this year, and much of that are the same things we always seem to feel we’ve been blessed to have in our lives.

Family comes immediately to mind. That’s all around us right now. Thanksgiving Week is a time when so many of our homeowners travel with their families to the Outer Banks to spend time together. Is been a tradition for many years, and we hope it continues for many, many more.

For those of us lucky enough to live here, we’re thankful that we get to live in one of the most beautiful places on earth. Does it get hectic in the summer? Yes it does. Do coastal storms sometimes make life interesting? We have to admit they do.

Perhaps there is no perfect place to live, but for so many that live here, whatever the imperfections, this is as close to a perfect place as there is.

Finally, from the Brindley Beach Vacations family to our homeowners and the many people who chose to stay with us, we are so grateful that you are in our lives.
