It’s Independence day on the Outer Banks and the classic though, so much to do and so little time, seems to have been confirmed. From Hatteras to Corolla there is plenty to do.
We don’t know if we can list everything , but we’ll include as much as we can.
There’s a new event this year. The Outer Banks Sporting Events is bringing the Killer Dunes 2 Miler to the Outer Banks. For anyone who thinks, “Oh, it’s just two miles,” it’s two miles across the soft sand of Jockey’s Ridge. Guaranteed to be the toughest two mile run ever. 8:00 a.m. on July 4.
The best of tradition may be the Town of Duck 4th of July Celebration Parade beginning at 9:00 a.m. Weird, wacky and wonderful, a perfect way to start the day. After the parade gather at the Town Green for watermelon and music.
Tradition continues at Manteo with an afternoon of Celebration beginning at 3:00 p.m. Lots to do for the kids, water melon eating contest, apple pie contes and much more.
Hatteras Vill;age has also gotten into the parade concept with a wonderful golf cart parade. The event has been growing steadily as it gains notoriety and more golf carts hit the road. The parade starts at 6:00 p.m. at Teach’s Marina.
Fireworks, of course is what it’s all about. Here’s the rundown from north to south.
