It looks as though major retailers are about to open a couple of stores this spring.
The big news is the coming of a full-sized Target in Kill Devil Hills where the old Kmart used to be. The renovations there are extensive, and from the outside it’s apparent a lot of work is being done to the building.
According to recent reports, Target is planning on opening the store in April.
When it does open, it will be the first Target in northeastern North Carolina.
There’s a lot of construction happening just across the street from the old Kmart—or more properly—the new Target. WaWa, the Philadelphia based convenience store, is hoping to open its doors by summer. It looks as though they still have a way to go, but construction is moving along.
The Marketplace at Southern Shores has been hard hit by the construction bug and the whole back section of the shopping plaza has been, well, a mess for about six months. Things are beginning to take shape though.
The big store there will be a Marshall’s. Plans call for a 24,000 square foot store. That’s a large retail space, but certainly not as large as the company’s urban center stores. Still it will be be the only Marshall’s between the Outer Banks and Norfolk.
The new space at the Marketplace will also include a RackRoom Shoes.
On the local front, Blue Moon Cafe in Nags Head is getting closer to moving into their new digs on the Bypass. The new location will more than double their capacity, a much needed expansion for one of the deservedly so most popular restaurants on the Outer Banks.
There is a lot happening as the Outer Banks gets ready for 2023 summer season. Be sure to make your reservations as soon as possible to get the best selection from Brindley Beach Vacations. And remember—we now have rentals from Corolla to Hatteras.
