There are three National Parks on the Outer Banks—Cape Hatteras National Seashore, The Wright Brothers Memorial and Fort Raleigh National Historic Site. Together they make up the Outer Banks Group. And it what is probably a surprise to no one, when visitation to all three sites is added together, a new record was set in 2021.

According to the National Park Service there were 3,981,857 visitors in 2021. the next closest year was 2002 with more than 3 million visitors less at 3,643,196.

The signs are that 2022 will be every bit as strong as 2021.

It’s important to note the parks are just one part of the Outer Banks. A very big part and very much a reason so many people visit, but there is much more to this sandbar by the sea.

All of this raises a very important point. The Outer Banks is going to be 100% booked for the summer. If you have not yet made your summer reservation with Brindley Beach Vacations, please, make that reservation right away. The available weeks and locations are being filled and we’re hoping to accommodate everyone who wants to stay on the Outer Banks this summer.

We’re in one of the strongest vacation cycles we’ve seen in a very long time, and there are only so many homes available for our guests. There is construction and new homes are being added, but not as quickly as the number of visitors is growing.

There are some options and for some families the should seasons may be a great time to visit. May, September and October are absolutely spectacular on the Outer Banks. The pace of life is just a little slower than the summer and there are not quite as many people here.

But no matter what, please make your reservations as soon as possible.
